Note from John to me November 24, 2016

About a month ago I experienced some major stomach spasms after hours, so Susan and I went to the ER.  They did a CT scan and that night yet the ER doc said it looks like pancreatic cancer, which came as quite a shock as there were no other symptoms of note.  A liver biopsy was done the next day which confirmed it, and unfortunately, mine had already spread from the pancreas into the liver and stomach lining.  If it had stayed in the pancreas, then surgery would have been a possibility to remove it, but given its spread then that makes it inoperable. I have been examined by pancreatic cancer specialists both at the U of MN and at Mayo.  I had my first chemo treatments beginning Nov. 16 and so far so good.  No major side effects.  I will receive chemo for 46 hours straight from the local cancer clinic every two weeks until going back to Mayo on Jan. 9 to get another CT scan and to see if the tumors have shrunk or at least haven't grown.  I am fighting this thing with all my might, and just wanted to let you know about it as you have been like family to the Enwrights since childhood.
