Welcome to our Caring Bridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Just to catch everyone up, about 3 months ago, my family doctor saw some abnormalities in my  blood.  He sent me to the West Michigan Cancer Center (WMCC) and after several more tests they determined that I have multiple myeloma.  Initially, it was thought to be "smoldering" ( sort of pre-myeloma stage) but further testing revealed I am actually "stage 1. "

After talking with our Dr at the WMCC, we decided to go for a second opinion at the University of Michigan Cancer Center.  The appt was yesterday with Dr. Erica Campagnero.  We were impressed with her knowledge and found her easy to talk to.  We decided to make her the head of our team and I will be starting chemo in a couple weeks.

My symptoms have been fatigue and foot/ankle  pain as well as neuropathy (lack of feeling) in my parts of my feet and ankles.  So I have to be careful when I'm walking.

Pam has been a wonderful helpmate.  Being a nurse she is more equipped than the average person to understand all the information we are receiving, still both of our heads are spinning as we try to understand it all :-)  I know this whole trip would be much more challenging without her .

We am praying constantly and really appreciate all the prayers, good wishes, calls, offers of help and hugs.

Onward and upwards with this new adventure with God!!!
