Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We are so appreciative & positively overwhelmed with all of the outpouring of concern we've received & thought it would be helpful to answer frequently asked questions /updates on here.  A couple of weeks ago,  my husband, John , felt a lump in his neck & we soon learned that he has Stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma. No, he has never smoked or chewed tobacco & had no other symptoms. Right before his diagnosis he had just started a boot camp workout program! We will have an appointment in the next couple of weeks at Moffitt Cancer Center here in Tampa. So far we have been told that due to the location of the tumors on the back of his tongue & lymph node, surgery is not an option but that was not from a head & neck cancer specialist so we shall see. We're expecting him to undergo radiation & chemo but still don't have a lot of information until we see a medical & radiation oncologist. Those of you that know John well can imagine he is coping with humor & positivity. Right now we are trying to keep things as normal as possible for Zachary & Kylie as they are still processing what their daddy will be experiencing.  Our goal is to stay positive & look at this as just one of life's hurdles to get over. Thank you for visiting & we will keep you posted as we conquer this journey........ xoxoxo Cindy
