John-E Cura

First post: Oct 19, 2021 Latest post: Nov 4, 2021
John-E was diagnosed with Classic Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Stage 4, on September 29, 2021.  As many of you may know this was already a difficult day for our family as we attended the the rosary and prepared for the Funeral Mass for our Primo Johnathon Salas, and not to mention that it was Juaquin's birthday. This is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system.

He has a tumor the size of a grapefruit that is pressing down on his lymph nodes that are causing issues with fluid retention in his right lung and around his heart.  He will have to undergo at least 6 months of chemotherapy to try and reduce the size of the tumor and may end up needing radiation to aid in that.

John-E was supposed to start his chemo regimen this past Wednesday, October 13, 2021, but had a major setback.  He arrived at the cancer center for his treatment, only to be notified he had a fever.  He was admitted to University Hospital where he's currently being treated for the infection.  They finally determined that the port site was the cause of the infection.

While there he's battled a couple of other issues including his first ever severe seizure that occurred on Friday, October 15, 2021, where he had to be resuscitated.  This was a very scary moment for Soraya as his mother, to observe.  He had another minor seizure on Saturday but has been slowly progressing since then.

As previously noted, this site is for family and friends to stay updated on John-E's progress.  Most importantly we ask that you please keep John-E in your prayers and all his family, including Soraya, Jeremias, Juaquin & John.

Finally we encourage you to leave short notes for John-E to read, as any inspiration he receives is truly uplifting for him.  If you have any photos of him to see, please post.  He will have access to this site, and we will try and keep it updated for all.

Thank you and God Bless,

Love the Salas Family
