Joey was born on Monday, February 10th at 6:12 a.m. at 5 lbs 8 oz & 18 inches long. He arrived prematurely at 32 weeks. After delivery, Joey was transferred to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital due to an imperforate anus & weak lungs. We anticipate Joey needing two surgeries to correct the imperforate anus, one of which was completed on Tuesday, February 11th. We will remain in the NICU at Lurie’s until Joey's lungs develop and he is strong enough for his second surgery. Marissa and Dave are staying at the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie's in order to spend as much time with Joey as possible.
