My mom said some of the best years of her life were the years she had cancer. I do not agree with this opinion, but I can say I’ve never felt loved, appreciated, and thought of more then since this  MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) has taken hold. Your thoughts, prayers, comments, jokes, and thumbs-up really helped me. Please keep them coming.

August 16 2021, I was getting my 1st ever blood transfusion. Jayne was sent away several hours earlier due to Darwin going into lockdown, and being told we have to isolate for the next 3 days. I was getting physically nauseous. The realization that I might die alone with the closest person to me being a mentally unstable individual along with their assigned police officer gave me a lot of fear and insecurity. The next hour or 2 were not happy times. After much analysis I came to a binary decision; Do I trust in my own knowledge, understanding, and fear, or do I trust in Jesus? I wish it didn’t take that long, and I wish the binary decision was not a binary debate. After coming to my senses, having a little prayer and chat with Jesus, I felt tremendously better. I say all this to let you know that as we begin this next step of a bone marrow transplant: I am very strong and secure, with a smile on my face.
