On Wed, Feb. 5 2020, upon my arrival home from a run around 10:15 am, I found Joe on the living room floor moaning, asking for help and saying call 911.  I did so and kept asking him what was wrong while on the phone with the dispatcher. Joe said it was his back and as I tried to find out more information he became limp and struggled to breathe.  The dispatcher told me to turn him on his back and begin CPR compressions.  He stopped breathing, but as instructed, I continued compressions until the emergency team arrived and took over.  At the Delaware hospital ER, they were able to find a weak pulse with the use of drugs, and put him on a ventilator.  He was transported to St. Ann's Mt. Carmel Hospital ICU unit in Westerville.  He has blood clots in his lungs.  In a two hour procedure, they removed the largest clots, and he is still on the ventilator.  A CT scan on Feb. 6, 2020 determined large amounts of edema on his brain (brain swelling).  They are now running EEG to determine his brain movements along with the muscular jerking motions he is experiencing.  It is wait and see for us at this point for the next few days to determine how he responds to the IV drugs and any stimulations reactions.
