Mom and Dad had their annual Christmas open house 12/10. About 6pm, Joe developed some chest heaviness & upper back pain. He said it came on like a switch. Mom took him to the ER in Moose Lake. They diagnosed an aortic dissection and flown to North Memorial. I was able to see him before they rushed him to surgery. Mom got to the hospital about 1am thanks to Martha & Curt taxi service. Their special friends even cleaned up all of the food and festivities. A big thanks to Jan, Martha, Curt & Clarissa.

He came out of surgery about 7am. The doctor came out to talk to us and said it's about as big of a surgery you can do. Valve replacement, reconstruction & some rebuilding.  He will spend a few days in the icu and then 7-10 days in the hospital.

Mom, Rick and I have popped in on him a few times and he looks better each time we see him. He has a nurse and Dad is her only patient. She's very busy keeping track of things and making sure he's ok.

Terri is on her way from Boise. He's not awake yet but will slowly wake him up over the next few hours.

We will update as we can. Thanks for all of your prayers and well wishes.
