Joe was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma on July 19th, 2021.  We started this journey on July 3rd, 2021. Let me share how we got here. Back in January, Joe experienced some arm weakness in his left arm as well as some neck pain.  After some chiropractic appointments and upon suggestion from the chiropractor Joe had an MRI done. At that point he was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease, which he has been managing with nutrition and chiropractic care.  Then in May, he had what we thought was maybe a sinus infection. So he went to the doctor and took a round of antibiotics. Things improved but never fully went away. On July 1st, he had been complaining about some double vision which continued into the weekend. On the afternoon of the 3rd, I noticed that his eyes were looking borderline crossed. At that point we decided to go to the ER in Willmar. They did a CT scan and found a mass in his nasopharyngeal cavity. The following Tuesday he had an MRI where by they confirmed the mass. Then Friday, July 9th he had a biopsy done. At that point they indicated it was likely a type of squamous cell carcinoma. He had a PET scan on July 20th and we are awaiting final results of both the biopsy and the PET scan. I will share those as soon as we have them.

The plan is to start with chemo and possibly do chemoradiation as well. His first chemo treatment is Monday, July 26th. We will meet with the oncologist that morning to verify all test results and then have his first chemo treatment right after.

This is not a road that we ever planned on, but here we are and we are doing our best to put this in God’s hands. We have tremendous support from family, friends and community and for that we are beyond blessed!!!!

Joe has not been able to work since the week of July 4th. And until his vision improves (and we pray it does) and we know how chemo will affect him, he will be unable to work. Joe started his own insurance adjusting company (County Line Claims) on June 1st of this year. And he hopes to continue growing. But for now, we put it in God’s hands. If you want to help, we have set up an account at our local bank for monetary donations.
