Joel  was diagnosed with a bone marrow cancer  (multiple myeloma) after his back broke in  June of 1991. He was 45 years old.    After back surgery and rehabilitation he began a long journey of radiation, chemo, bone marrow transplant, more chemo, clinical trials, and more chemo.   Now, 25 years later, the cancer  is progressing and drugs are no longer effective. Joel is a quiet, persistent fighter who never complains.   He took early retirement from Hemet High School where he was a beloved counselor in 2002.  Joel and Joann took trips and a few cruises along the way.   We had a special Hawaiian trip this past summer.   The best times were spent with our four children, their spouses and seven grandchildren.   Joel went on Hospice on November 2, 2016.  He was able to attend the wedding of his son Dale and his new wife Shirin on November 8th.   Children, grandchildren, cousins and friends have visited.  He is happy to greet each and every visitor.
