Joel is 2 months old! He is a sweet little boy who is very loved by his parents and two beautiful older sisters! We received the news that Joel will need open heart surgery to repair a sizable Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), and an extra appendage of tissue that is impeding blood flow through the aortic valve. The VSD is basically a hole in the wall of his heart between the two ventricles, so when his heart tries to pump oxygenated blood through his body, he is not receiving the full measure that he needs to grow and thrive. As a result, he is in the very early stages of congestive heart failure. His feedings are not going well and his lungs and oxygen levels are being impacted by the VSD. He has been admitted in Mott Children's hospital in Ann Arbor. Please pray for Joel, his parents, and his sister. Pray for peace and for the doctors as they determine exactly when and how they need to operate on Joel's very fragile heart.
