Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support, and words of encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On April 10, 2017 we received Joel's diagnosis of Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma (cancer of plasma cells).  Prior to this he has having a lot of joint pain and began doctoring.  His blood work did not look good, and more tests were ordered.  He eventually had a bone marrow biopsy that confirmed Multiple Myeloma.  Joel has also been diagnosed with Amyloidosis.  Only 5-10% of MM patients also have Amyloid, so Joel is special!  Amyloid does not change how he will be treated, but it could cause more complications.

He has completed four three-week cycles of chemo, administered both through pills and injections.  He has continued to work and overall has felt really good.  His recent blood work and bone marrow biopsy indicate that the chemo treatments were very successful.  Many prayers have been answered, and we continue to trust in God throughout this journey.

He is about to begin the process for a bone marrow transplant, using his own stem cells.
