Joe Anderson

A year ago in March ( 2017) Joe fell while skiing and hurt his back. After months and months of physical therapy, dry needling, epidural shots, MRI’s and CT scans we were at our second visit at Abbott spine center hoping they would set up surgery to fix the problem. Instead they told us his walk was not conducive with his injury. They sent us to have an EMG and to see a Neurologist. He had this done on January 29th 2018, and that’s the day our lives changed. The doctor called for me to come to his office where Joe was already seated. He told us that from the tests and examination he thought Joe had probable ALS. ( Lou Gehrig’s disease ) Joe asked the doctor how long? And the doctor said a year.  We then set up a second opinion with the U of M which was on February 8th. They confirmed it is ALS.  We saw at least 5 to 6 different people that day. All of them were wonderful and explained any questions we had. They took 8 tubes of blood from him to test to make sure it wasn’t anything else other than the ALS. Joe is handling this news beautifully. He is MY rock! His goal now is to have as much fun as he can and to prove that he went out and bought a red Corvette! We pick it up Friday the 16th. He always wanted one and has plans to terrorize the Bloomington police! He still has his sense of humor and class that I fell in love with! Joe is not on facebook, but I do share with him any notes that I receive for him. Keep him in your prayers and I can’t promise that I will post daily or even weekly, but will try and keep everyone informed as time passes. After all we have places to go with the car now ...........
