It all started after a hot yoga class.  Jodie felt pain in her abdomen, but wrote it off as a likely muscle strain from the class.  After a couple of weeks of persistent pain, she went to the hospital where they performed a CT scan which indicated swollen retroperitoneal lymph nodes.  A biopsy was taken which resulted in findings of carcinoma.  Since the biopsy, Jodie has had blood tests, 2 additional CT scans, an internal ultrasound, an endoscopy, colonoscopy, and PET scan.  All tests came back clean with only cancer evidence in the lymph nodes.  Findings are all somewhat strange considering the abdominal pain has gotten progressively worse to the point it has become relatively immobilizing.

Jodie is having a 2nd biopsy 11/8 to 1) Determine if she’s a candidate for immunotherapy and 2) Perform a gene expression test to determine the type of cancer cell and origin.  Her first round of chemo starts 11/9.
