On December 5th, during a routine eye exam, Joanie noticed that she had lost most of her peripheral vision. The ophthalmologist was very concerned and quickly ordered a MRI. Only 2 weeks before Christmas, my mom was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumor. The doctor recommended craniotomy for tumor resection surgery. The tumor is currently the size of a golf ball and is located on her occipital lobe, which is why she has lost some of her peripheral vision. The surgery is scheduled for December 22 and will take up to 7 hours. Because of the location of the tumor, the surgeon might not be able to fully remove the tumor and she might need radiation treatment. After she is able to leave the hospital it can take 3 months before she is able to return to work. My mom needs your love and support.
