Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place after CarePages closes at the end of October. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Here's the original story of Joan's journey that started in 2013:

Joan was diagnosed with cancer on December 18, 2013. Her battle with Ovarian Cancer began when her surgeon, Dr Joe Kelley, operated on her Jan 6, 2014. Dr Kelley is a terrific surgeon from Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC. He and Joan formed an instant connection with similar knowledge of the Jersey Shore.

Joan is ready to start her journey after a slight delay and visit back to the hospital for dehydration and a fever on Feb 4th. Her first chemo treatment took place on Feb 11th. She will have 6 cycles of chemo over 18 weeks. Her drug regimen is called Dose Dense Chemo which is something new from Japan that the US gyn onc physicians have adapted for treatment of this type of cancer.

Your support and prayers are very much appreciated by Joan and her family. She loves her family, friends, the summer and sunny days at the shore. God Bless!
