JoAnn McLaughlin JoAnn's Journey

First post: Jan 20, 2017
Hi Everyone!  After a routine mammogram in October during my annual physical exam, I received news that an ultrasound was needed as a precaution.  The ultrasound led to additional testing and a biopsy ultimately led to a diagnosis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Stage 1a, Grade 3.  So here I am . . .In mid-December 3 small cancerous tumors were removed from my right breast.  The healing process has been very slow, but I'm on the right track which is most important.  Last week a power port was put in my chest on the left side, which I have to say is very uncomfortable but I will eventually get used to it since I will have it for another 6 months during chemotherapy.  I just received a call from my oncologist, asking me to start chemo next week.    So Thursday is the target date for my chemotherapy initiation.   I will do my best to keep this updated -- hopefully better than my facebook postings!
