Mom has been recently diagnosed with a pancreatic tumor.  This was discovered through CT Scan and MRI, which were ordered after she experienced fatigue, abdominal pain and indigestion.  This  tumor could be benign or cancerous.  It's a very small tumor located near the head of the pancreas.  We met with Dr. Sachin Pai, Oncologist with Mitchell Cancer Center in Mobile on July 26th.   We were impressed with the Mitchell Center staff and feel we are in good hands.  

Mom is actually feeling better after being prescribed medicine  to aid with digestion.  Her abdominal pain is gone now and she's eating well and only has occasional nausea, which she also has meds for.    She is still fighting fatigue and is trying hard to keep up her regular activities.

On Tuesday, July 31st, we have an appointment for an EUS-FNA, which is an endoscopic fine needle aspiration.  This is to obtain a biopsy of the tumor. This will be performed by Dr. Meir Mizrahi , Gastroenterologist in Mobile.  It's performed outpatient and is painless, much like a regular endoscopic procedure where the doctor views the stomach.

On Friday, August 3rd, we have a PET scan scheduled.

The following week, we have our follow up appointment with Dr. Pai to go over the results of these tests on August 9th.
