Mom & dad left San Antonio on Tuesday, February 6th, for a long-awaited trip to the Grand Canyon.  On Wednesday, their first full day to take in the sites, they stopped at a lookout so mom could take a picture (of course!!).  She took a step down some natural stairs, her foot caught on a rock, and she tumbled head over heels (literally) down 8 steps.  Three ambulance rides later she was in the trauma center at Flagstaff Medical Center with a broken left wrist, broken right femur, lateral fractures in both knee caps, broken left ankle, broken left foot, bruised lungs, and a cut above her left eye.

This was definitely NOT the view of the Grand Canyon she was hoping for.

Mom & dad's anticipated week-long vacation has now turned into an unexpected medical stay.  Mom had surgery on her left wrist and right femur on Thursday, February 8.  The trauma surgeon believes the other injuries can be addressed without surgery, but not without a lot of physical therapy.  When she is released from the hospital in Flagstaff, she'll be transported to a skilled nursing facility where they can address the rehab required to get her back on her feet - and back to caring for her two favorite girls under 2 feet.

Now we just have to get her home so that she can recover and get back to her normal life. Your prayers are greatly needed, both for mom/Jo Ann and for her family and they are greatly appreciated.

We will post updates here as we get them. And for those of you that wish to help, please visit the Ways to Help section. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

With love and our sincerest gratitude,
Stephanie, Jason & David
