JoAnn went in for a routine check up about 3 weeks ago. Dr Meyer ordered a chest X-ray which he does every year do to her history. The X-ray showed a new spot in her right lung. We went to Rochester to her Pulmonary Doctor. Dr. Holland ordered a CT scan which confirmed the spot had a high risk of being a recurrence for cancer and the scan showed some enlarged lymph nodes. The PET scan showed several active areas. A biopsy was performed on her lymph nodes and the test confirmed her cancer has returned. The tumor is in a spot that is inoperable. She has already had one lobe removed 26 years ago from her first round with lung cancer. She also has COPD which also complicates treatment. She is in good spirits and is contemplating her next steps.
