Joanna Bell Joanna’s Journey

Thank you so much for visiting!

We, the Bell family, hope that you will follow Joanna's journey and pray for specific requests as we post them.

Joanna is a champ.

Since the age of 16, Joanna has battled a serious genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis.  In August 2021,  after a number of concerning symptoms, doctors discovered that the tumor that was already present in her leg (previously benign) had become malignant. She went through a round of radiation treatment in hopes to shrink, encapsulate, and then surgically remove the tumor. Sadly, on November 17th 2021, doctors discovered that the cancer had metastasized to Joanna’s lungs. This means that Joanna has stage 4 metastatic soft tissue sarcoma in the lungs. This aggressive cancer was described as "innumerable, inoperable tumors in the lungs". While this is a huge blow, we believe in the power of prayer for both physical healing and Christian perseverance. The love displayed in Christ on the Cross and his victory (over Satan, disease, and death) give us assurance that God loves Joanna more than we could ever imagine and that he also hates cancer more than we could ever imagine.

Joanna (born May 28th, 1990) grew up a missionary kid in Egypt and Croatia. By God's grace Joanna became a Christ follower in 2002. The Lord has grown and persevered Joanna over the years. She attended high school at a Christian boarding school in Germany and then attended Spurgeon College (BA in cross-cultural studies with a focus on Christian ministry) at Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. During college Joanna participated in, and led, 4-month missionary trips to India, Peru, and Russia. More recently Joanna has been living in Spartanburg, SC working as a vet assistant for our father's veterinary practice.
