Hi and thanks for visiting❤
It says to write my story but that's for another day. So, briefly, my name is Joan or Joanie, I'm 52 years old and I'm dying of Metastatic Breast Cancer because there is no cure.
Metastatic means the cancer has spread from the breasts and into my bones and liver. Although I had early detection (me)for my first Stage II breast cancer in 2006 and for my second in 2009 and was treated, then in 2013 I was diagnosed Stage IV as the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes and my hip.
Since 2013 I have been on so many treatments and chasing side effects and having scans every 3 months to usually find out that cancer outsmarted the treatment and would be on to the next until that treatment, too, failed and so on and so on and now they have run out of effective treatments.
The tumors in my liver have been growing since last December despite the last 2 chemos (ugh) and now they are affecting liver function. This is why I'm constantly nauseous and the cancer has also spread through most of my skeleton.
Since I won't be on treatment Dana Farber doesn't need to coordinate my care and suggested hospice. This doesn't mean I'm gonna die anytime soon! This is to get better care at home and other resources that the hospital doesn't provide. They have no expiration date for me and I feel like I'm gonna be here for quite a while!
I will provide updates on here so everyone knows what's going on, Love love love
