Jim White Jim White’s Recovery

First post: Jun 19, 2021 Latest post: Apr 27, 2022
Welcome to Jim White’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Here’s what happened: On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Jim survived an ischemic stroke on the left side of his brain. As a result he’s experienced paralysis on his right side, difficulty swallowing, and limited speech. In the hospital he was alert and able to respond to questions and indicate his preferences for music, positioning, etc. This is a hopeful sign. Early Sunday morning (June  13) Jim was taken to the OR for an emergency procedure called a decompressive craniectomy, where a portion of his skull was removed to allow room for brain swelling to occur without causing further neurological damage.  As I write this, Jim’s still in ICU, but there is some improvement each day. We’re hoping that with extensive rehabilitation, he will be able to regain his abilities to enjoy many of the activities he enjoyed previously.

Before his stroke, Jim has been working as a senior applications developer.  He is an amazing guitarist and enjoys running, mountain biking, and good food with good friends. Jim passionately loves his family including his dog Nellie.

We wholeheartedly welcome your prayers and loving thoughts, as it will take a village to help this family rebuild their lives.

Thank you so much for reading to the end!

With gratitude,
