After a trip to the emergency room in April with severe abdominal pains resulting in surgery to remove a tumor blocking his colon, Jim was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Scans revealed that the cancer had metastisized to his liver.  We consulted with doctors at Mass General, Dana Farber and Sloane Kettering j to understand the diagnosis and develop a plan for moving forward. Jim started initial chemo at Dana Farber but after 4 infusions, we learned that it had not been effective in reducing the cancer. After consulting with a highly recommended surgeon at Sloan Kettering (MSK) we decided to move forward with liver resection and the implanting of a HAI pump that's will deliver chemo directly to the liver. He will also receive systemic chemo in the coming months.
We are hopeful that this treatment plan will be effective and very grateful for all your wonderful support and care.
