Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope during this time when it matters most.

After a great start to our summer culminating in our 50th wedding anniversary party on the dock at the lake, we were hit with the sad news that Jim has cancer.

Jim had been low on energy and unusually tired, so much so that one Monday early in August while out with friends for a round of golf he felt too tired to get out of the cart to play the round. We drove back to Winnipeg to see his doctor and found that his bloodwork, which showed him to be healthy in June, had significantly changed and now indicated trouble in his liver. A subsequent CT scan showed numerous tumours in the liver but in all of the scopes and scans that have followed the doctors have been unable to identify the primary source of the cancer. The current belief is that it is a cholangiocarcinoma (cancer originating in the bile ducts) and that it can't be cured. We are preparing to start chemotherapy next week in an effort to slow down the growth and in the hope that Jim will regain some of his energy.

We appreciate your kind words and support and will do our best to keep you updated as we go along through this process.
