Thank you for visiting.  Jim was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of thyroid cancer.  Dedifferentiated  Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer (ATC) is the most rare of thyroid cancers and has a poor prognosis due to its aggressive behavior and resistance to cancer treatments. Surgical removal of the tumor is not an option due to the size and location of the mass.  Jim began chemotherapy on August 29th using doxorubicin and docetaxel. Initially we had hoped that he would qualify to be on a Phase 2 study through the Mayo Clinic that would have combined Pempbrolizumab with Chemoradiation. Unfortunately due to lung involvement and growth of the tumor Jim no longer qualifies for this study.
