In 2003, Jim was diagnosed with non-hodgkins follicular lymphoma. For 12 years, Jim and his medical team at the University of Michigan led by Dr. Scott Gitlin followed a watchful waiting strategy. In 2015, the lymphoma took off and JIm underwent a chemo regimen called R-CHOP and went into remission. In 2017, Jim developed blood clots in his left leg when enlarged lymph nodes blocked the large vein into the leg. Targeted radiation resolved this issue. Around Thanksgiving 2017, the lymphoma came roaring back and transformed into diffused large cell lymphoma. JIm is now going through a different chemo regimen at UM that will be followed by a stem cell transplant.
