Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

Dad had his 7th of 9 chemo treatment last week, on Tuesday for his bladder cancer.  For the most part, his treatments have been uneventful (one other time, his hemoglobin had dropped under 8 and he had a blood transfusion, which helped him immensely).  After this last treatment, he went down hill and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening with a hemoglobin of 6, and an INR of 16 (This is the number that indicates clotting factor, which is supposed to be between 2 and 3).  After 6 units of blood and 2 units of plasma, things were improving for his INR (down to 1.7) but not with his hemoglobin.  This morning (Tuesday) his hemoglobin at 6.3 again. The concern is that Dad is bleeding and we need to find out the source of the bleed.  The decision was made to transfer him to St. Cloud and meet with his oncologist and other specialists to see why his hemoglobin is not improving and find out where the bleeding is at.
