THE BIG "C"! On Sept. 9, 2016 Jim had an endoscopy procedure because he was having difficulty swallowing. The doctor had some bad news for us, she saw that the esophagus is narrowed due to cancer. A Biopsy confirmed this diagnosis. The next step was a PET scan to identify if the cancer had spread. The Oncologist informed us the cancer has spread to several lymph nodes and the adrenal gland (this gland sits on top of the kidneys.) Jim is having a biopsy next week to double confirm the PET scan. What all of this means is Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. Next step is radiation to hopefully shrink the esophageal tumor to make Jim more comfortable and able to swallow. The Oncologist is using the original biopsy to test against several types of chemotherapy to see if the tumor will react to any of them. The goal is to prolong Jims life for as long as possible so we can continue to make many more memories together.
