Jim has been hospitalized for several days after experiencing severe abdominal pain. He was admitted to Grace Hospital in Winnipeg and was found to have a blood clot in an artery supplying blood to the intestines. He was later transferred to Health Sciences Centre for higher level of care and remains in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. He has had three surgeries to address the initial problem and other life-threatening issues that were subsequently discovered. He has been heavily sedated to keep him comfortable and is on a ventilator for respiratory support as he recovers. Although we have been unable to communicate with Jim, his youngest brother, Dugald, has been been with him during this time.
