Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, my Jimmy, my 7-year old beautiful boy, came down with Croup last week and was hospitalized. After further tests, it was found that Jimmy has Leukemia. Today he started his 7th day of his first round of chemo. His type of Leukemia is AML. Statistically, there is a 70% survival rate but in Jimmy's case we are affirming that he will, through our prayers and strong connection to God, recover 100% from this disease. Currently, we're awaiting the results of a key genetic test in which if the results are favorable, will continue Jimmy on his current treatment plan: Four rounds of Chemo, for a total of 4 months in the Hospital (Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Spokane, WA). If the results are not favorable we will go down the bone marrow transplant road, however we did receive good news earlier week when one of his chromosome tests came back favorable for this type of Chemo treatment. The Doctors have said this means his chances are better that he'll have a favorable genetic test result.
I know you all have a ton of questions and what I ask you all to do is refrain from doing general google searches or even WebMD inquires on Jimmy's illness. The reason for this is because a lot of the information out there is misleading and anxiety promoting. As his Doctors, Dr. Ross (a.k.a. Dr. Love) and Dr. Angela (a.k.a. Dr. Angel), have directed us, please access the following Website where you can find all the information on this disease. It is presented in a very straight forward way, easy to understand, etc... This way, we all can be on the "same page":
https://childrensoncologygroup.org/* click on "For Patients and Families" link (bottom left of page)
* click on "Medical Information" link (mid-way down page in the middle)
* click on "Types of Children's Cancer" link (left hand side of page)
* Scroll down to the "Leukemia’s - Cancer of the Blood - section
* Click on Acute Mylogenous Leukemia (AML)
From there you can read through and get educated about this type of Leukemia and Jimmy's treatment and recovery plan.
Thank you all for your love, support and prayers! I know God has this and is holding Jimmy in his healing hands.
We will provide updates on Jimmy's progress every couple of days as well as provide direction on good visiting days and hours.
Much Love,
Rosie,Mikey and the Kelly-Warren Family
