This journey began when I noticed a pain in my left side. Of course, I didn’t get a chance to go to the doctor due to Deb and I taking care of her dad, the death of her dad and then the pandemic of Covid-19. Once the doctor's offices closed, I had to wait until May to see my doctor. Since my doctor knows me so well, she knew something was wrong since I never complain. After two CT scans, a sonogram, and blood work, they decided that I had two hernias and some type of a mass around each of the hernias. I also had a mass around my appendix, and they decided the appendix needed to come out.
They removed the appendix and the mass, which was sent off to the pathologist. The pathology results came back as a Low Grade Mucinous Neoplasm meaning it’s malignant but slow growing. This news was followed by a referral to a surgical oncologist in Plano. As you can imagine, getting into a new doctor during this time is a little difficult. With a Tele-Visit, I learned there were more tests to be done and a Colonoscopy. WOW! Who would have thought getting referrals and appointments especially when you want them sooner than later, would take so long and be so challenging? But as of today 06/03/2020, I have the tests scheduled for Friday 06/06, and the colonoscopy scheduled for Monday 06/08.
Pray that we have all the results back before my visit with the Surgical Oncologist which is scheduled for Wednesday 06/10 in the afternoon. With all the results in, we should be able to make a plan for when I have surgery and get this stuff out. I am not sure if we will have a date for the surgery when we leave the appointment but it is a step in that direction. Deb and I will keep you updated as we get information.
