Jim Liebe Jim's Journey

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

Jim's journey started in early October when he was woken up by a pain in his left tricep. A few days later he noticed a bump in that area and decided it would be a good idea to see what was going on. The doctor requested an ultrasound which showed a hematoma and a week later he had an MRI, which showed the tumor inside. A biopsy followed and on Nov 6th he was told he had a soft tissue sarcoma. We got very little information that day and would have to wait another week before meeting the Froedtert cancer team and really understanding what this journey might look like.

We learned that his type of cancer is rare and that, due to the size and depth of the tumor and its aggressive nature, it was considered to be high-grade. As hard as that was to hear, the next day we got good news from the CT scan. The cancer has not spread, which means it is curable! The plan is 3 rounds of chemo, a cycle of radiation and then surgery. If everything goes as planned, we will say goodbye to this tumor by April!

After a wonderful Thanksgiving, Jim started chemo bright and early this morning. We will spend most of the next three days here getting chemo and then the remaining 18 days of the cycle will be spent adjusting to those treatments before the next round. Every day that passes gets us one day closer to being cancer-free! The doctors are optimistic, so we are optimistic, as well.

Thank you so much for visiting our site. We will post updates as often as we can so you'll know how things are going. You can leave a comment or you can call or text or email. We appreciate everyone's love and words of hope and encouragement.
