After having trouble swallowing, Jim was scheduled for an endoscopy and colonoscopy. On October 19th, a routine endoscopy/colonoscopy resulted in some esophageal bleeding. Concerned about the blood loss and his underlying anemia, the team called an ambulance. Jim was transported to Swedish (First Hill) ER and was admitted to the hospital. During this hospital stay, Jim was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. This turn of events caught all of us off guard-especially the late stage of the cancer.
