On Saturday September 30th, while driving ,Jim experienceed sudden cardiac arrest while stopped at a red light. His son John was able stop the vehicle, call 911 and pull Jim’s lifeless body out of the car. John, a women stopped behind him and another women who pulled over started CPR on Jim in the middle of the street. Five minutes later West Metro fire department responded and continued CPR and used the defibrillator 3 times to shock his heart. Jim’s heart began to beat again and he was rushed to emergency room. The St Anthony’s emergency room doctors and nurses continued to stabilize Jim on life support. As result of everyone’s efforts Jim was moved the ICU that night. The next morning, Sunday, Jim was able to breathe on his own and was taken off life support. To everyone’s delight Jim was cracking jokes and asking what happened and how he got in the hospital. The doctors and nurses at St Anothony’s are taking great care of Jim as they figure out what happened and what interventions will be needed for Jim’s continued recovery.
