Most of you know Jim enjoys all motorsports especially racing his vintage Formula Ford. On Saturday, June 4th he was involved in an on-track incident and is at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA. He has a concussion, some double vision and as the neurosurgeon explained, “his neck is messy.” After 2 days of observation in ICU and conferring with colleagues, the doctor determined surgery was the best option to repair the injury.  It is scheduled Wednesday, June 8th at 1pm.  Jim explains the procedure as a simple wood shop project by taking a plate and a few screws to screw his head back on!  He is doing ok now and has a “fashionable collar" to restrict neck movement along with meds for pain relief.  All other body parts are working just fine and his sense of humor also wasn’t affected. The doctor thinks he may be released to go home as early as Saturday.

It was a scary time and we are thankful for God’s protection and watching over Jim and the other driver, Al, who was not injured. There are numerous friends and the SOVREN racing club members to thank. First and most important is Ricky Lee and his E crew who were quick to arrive to the scene, race club officials who took care of the situation, and several fellow racers who packed up our trailer and moved it to a friend’s shop.

Your prayers are coveted and we appreciate the hospital visitors, phone calls, flowers, and offers for help.  Jim is asking for no calls to the hospital at this time. Feel free to contact Pat either by email at:  patj45@gmail.com or text:  206-818-3390.
