Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support, prayers and words of hope and encouragement!

On Wednesday July 20- Dad  went out for just an evening drive in his 1932 Ford Roadster replica.  This was a fun stress-free driving around car that dad has enjoyed just short of two months.  For reasons still unknown, his car veered off a country road not far from home,  throwing him from the car 10 feet and leaving him seriously injured. He could have hit a rough dip in the road and or dodged a deer, but we will not know specifics until we get the accident report later this week.  He went to the ER at Navicent Health center in Macon, which thankfully is a trauma one hospital. He broke every rib on his Right side , 3 are broken in 2-3 places, several fractured ribs on the left side, punctured his right lung, has 2 chest tubes on R side , stitches on forehead/ eyebrows, right black eye and other multiple bruising and scratches. He is on a ventilator and heavily sedated to help healing and minimize pain until he can have surgery. It's difficult for us all to see Dad not look like himself. However , We are praising God that he has no other major injuries. Brain is intact. No major organs affected - no other bones broken. We join the doctors in being amazed at how much worse it could have been for him.
Wednesday and Thursday evenings were critical and the words " we will hope to see him make it through the night" were used. By Friday, he was off blood pressure stabilizing medicine and they cut his oxygen requirements on the vent in half- he has maintained this on his own. By Saturday afternoon, 2 of the Doctors treating him since Thursday morning , said they were shocked. Just shocked. We told them he is a tough man and we have a Big God.
Thanks to prayers and the Ultimate Healer watching over Dad, he is stable enough for surgery tomorrow , Monday. This will be involve rib plates and screws for all ribs on the right side/ and they may be able to do some on the Left side. This is detailed but will speed his healing and decrease pain as he heals. For trauma surgeries , they take the worst first. So we are praying for minimal to no traumas to come in tonight or tomorrow morning. It could be pushed to Tuesday if others need surgery before Dad.
Pray for a successful , timely surgery ; for complete and swift God-directed healing , to be able to come off the ventilator soon after surgery as pneumonia is a risk on the vent for too long. Pray for mom as she anxiously waits for Dad to be well and home again. Also prayers for moms immune system and health to sustain , as she is on the list waiting for a bone marrow transplants to cure her MDS.
