It has come time that Jim Hicks now faces a fight for his life with throat cancer. All the emotional fears and desires to fight this is at the forefront of this devastating news. It has been requested by large numbers who are in beloved support of Jim's fight that we blog his journey.
So here we are at the beginning only days after Jim and his wife Donnette where called in to their doctors office. Dr Berg has been their doctor for over 20 years and with sadness in his eyes the words came out "Jim you have cancer "
Yet for many who are new to who Jim is, let's go back in time and introduce him to you.
Jim Hicks, Is an accomplished professional horseman. He uniquely blends the principles of horsemanship with the movements of dressage to bring out the best in himself and his equine partners. Over 30 years ago, Hicks and his wife sought out Ray Hunt with a desire to learn more about the horse and Hunt remains one of the greatest influences on the Hicks’ careers.
Hicks has become a noted clinician worldwide, specializing in bringing dressage principles to horsemen of any discipline. In Jim’s clinics, it is common to have large-bodied warmbloods side-by-side with quarter horses fresh off the ranch.

Hicks refuses to attribute the value of a horse to its price tag and believes that the horse is the mirror of all truths especially our human difficult to face ones. He is a committed student of the horse and takes pride in helping others relate to their horses in a way that leaves both horse and rider successful in their partnership.
