My dad, our rock, suffered a traumatic injury on Friday 1/27. He passed out, fell and has suffered an injury to his spinal cord. A non-displaced fracture in C2 and cord compression & contusions at C3/4 and C5/6.  As well as a broken nose and a few ribs. When he was brought to the ER he had no feeling in his arms or legs. He consistently regained some feeling and movement over the 3 days following, and On Tuesday 1/31 he had surgery to repair the broken vertebrae and relieve pressure on the cord from the fall by removing some of the bone surrounding the spinal cord. The doctors said the surgery was successful, i.e.  they did exactly what they planned on doing and there were no curveballs. They really can't predict how much use of his legs & arms he will regain, and it could take 6 mos - 2 yrs to fully realize those improvements. My dad has a lot of work ahead of him but he is one tough old goat and the hardest working man I know so my money's on him. But this could be a long chapter and we know how many loved ones are pulling for him so we wanted to have a place to keep you all updated on his journey. In dad's words, "Jam on!" Xoxo Lauren
