Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. My story begins on Friday evening Dec. 10 when getting ready for bed I found a golf ball sized lump in my right breast. Monday morning I was seen by my family physician Dr. Perkins who ordered a mammogram and ultrasound. Following those results I was sent last Thursday to Ames for a breast core biopsy. Friday afternoon Dr. Perkins called and asked Alan & I to come into his office for a consultation. I was diagnosed with stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. This cancer is rather aggressive and harder to treat than other breast cancers. I was seen this past Monday by Dr. Behrens the oncologist at the St. Anthony Cancer Center in Carroll. My treatment plan is aggressive chemo for 6 months followed by surgery/radiation if needed. I’m keeping an optimistic outlook on this journey and have put my faith in God to pull me along this journey along with the love & support of my precious family & friends.
