Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
On Friday, July 20th, we were camping in Yankton with a group of family and friends. We ventuted out to the river on the pontoon since it was a beautiful day. We found a good spot and then anchored the boat. All the kids (young and old) jumped in and were swimming and playing on the Maui mat. I stayed on the pontoon since I don't know how to swim. I got up to walk from the back of the pontoon to the front and in doing so I heard a big pop in my hip and instant pain. My wonderful husband took me to the ER in Yankton where they did an xray and CT scan. The CT scan showed a hip fracture, but it also showed that I have a bunch of lesions all over my pelvis. The ER doctor suggested we get to Sanford in Sioux Falls as soon as possible. We agreed and then the doctor checked to see if there was a room available for me before we left. I was admitted to Sanford late Friday night in the oncology unit. They started running tests and scans and more tests and more scans, but the most important test, the biopsy, was not going to happen until Monday, June 23rd. My journey continues in my journal entries. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
