At the beginning of April, Jesse began to notice difficulty with the vision in her right eye After an extensive work up, the medical team determined that Jesse has a tumor in her right optic canal that is compressing her optic nerve. Jesse will have brain surgery this Friday, May 15th. The doctors believe that the tumor is benign but will attempt a biopsy to be sure. A team at the U of M will perform surgery this Friday to decompress the nerve. Unfortunately, the tumor is unable to be removed due to the location. Two weeks after surgery, Jesse will start six weeks of radiation to shrink the tumor. At this time the team is unsure if her eyesight will improve.
