Unfortunately, as many of you may already know, our Dad, Jerry (Gerald) Wenner is fighting a battle with Cancer. The events started when he fell and broke his shoulder back in June of this year. An unidentified pain, above and beyond the pain from his shoulder, continued to propagate which left him uncomfortable and drained throughout the summer. Because of the pain, he was unable to enjoy the usual car shows, stays with his brother Dave on Lake Mille Lacs and the other activities his Wife, Children and Grandchildren get him involved in.
With the beginning of Autumn, check-ups revealed that his blood cells count was low, and subsequent tests, shockingly, diagnosed him with cancer in his throat (esophageal cancer).In early October, a PET scan revealed that it has metastasized into his bones, hips, spine, liver and various smaller areas of his body. The doctors’ prognosis was for him to receive radiation treatment to control the damage that it is doing to his now broken bones and to prevent further damage to his spine. A round of Chemo-Therapy has been administered to contain tumor from growing, and hopefully help him to be able to get proper nutrition.
