JERRY'S FIGHT Just a short six months ago Jerry was diagnosed with Liver Cancer. After the shock of the diagnosis we all rushed to support him and Judy and find any treatment center that could help him find a cure. Due to the unfortunate location of this tumor within his liver, surgery or radiation were not treatment options. He was given oral chemo for 3 months with such serious side effects that he was not able to tolerate the maximum dose recommended for treatment. We knew that God was in control and with prayer and faith Jerry has been fighting this great fight. Needless to say, we were so encouraged when he was told at his 3 month scan appt that the tumor was 2/3 dead although the size had increased due to the scar tissue. Jerry continued to fight and drink endless bottles of ensure, case by case. It is with a very heavy and sad heart that with his most recent scan showed the tumor progressing quickly with apparent metastasis to his lungs and lymph nodes. Newly FDA approved chemo was ordered but denied twice by his insurance company. In the interim of waiting for the new chemo his condition deteriorated and he is so weak that his doctors do not feel he is able to tolerate the new chemo. They are also not encouraging that it will even work. We were blessed and grateful to spend Thanksgiving Day together with Jerry only to end up admitting him to the hospital that evening with severe pain and anemia. A few days later after blood transfusions and pain medication adjustment, Jerry has been allowed to go home with Hospice support.
Those of you that know Jerry know he has always been full of energy and the life of the party. This is Jerry's biggest fight and we will continue to support Jerry and Judy on this journey. Endless prayer support is what Jerry needs the most so God can hear and heal. The financial support generated through this website will help Jerry and Judy with medical costs, medications, and treatments. It will also help them with living costs and utilities so Judy may stay at Jerry's side as much as possible. We are also looking into a holistic cancer treatment center that insurance will not cover in hopes that this treatment with strengthen his body's ability to fight the cancer.
