Jerry experienced pain in his leg/hip area which he thought was coming from his back. An x-ray of his hip revealed a bone lesion on his leg in January 2016. Doctors thought the lesion was the remnants of a prior bone infection that occurred when he was a kid. He had a follow up x-ray in June 2016 which indicated no changes in the lesion. Due to increased pain in the leg, a MRI was completed on August 22, 2016 to get a more detailed view of the bone lesion.

On August 26, 2016, Jerry stood up at work and his femur broke at the lesion. The bone was repaired in surgery later that evening and a biopsy of the area was sent for testing. Preliminary results of the biopsy have indicated that the lesion is osteosarcoma. Several more tests of the bones and abdominal area have been completed and the osteosarcoma appears to be localized to the one area on his leg.

Jerry will be traveling to Vanderbilt very soon to consult with an orthopedic oncologist surgeon who specializes in osteosarcoma.

Please keep Jerry, Tina, Brandi and Michael in your prayers as they begin this journey.
