Tough, strong and steady are just a few of the words that describe my dad, Jerry Johnston Sr. Born February 21, 1940 in Brookings, SD. Grew up in Arcadia, CA and married the love of his life on May 6, 1961 at Holy Angels Church. In 1971 they moved to Texas in search of a new life eventually settling on beautiful Lake Conroe.

Dad worked for a company selling commercial coin operated machines for 32 years retiring in 2006. Since then both have been active spending time between Texas, North Carolina and Cape Cod, MA.

2016 threw us a curveball with a diagnosis of possible cancer in which, dad elected to have his bladder and prostate removed. From there M.D. Anderson gave him four rounds of the strongest chemotherapy they had. We took off to NC for Thanksgiving and in December got the news that the chemo did not work. so, M.D. Anderson wanted to put him in a drug trial and a chemo pill once a week.

Sadly this also did not work and where the cancer is located on his intestines it has spread much like mold and is the size of two pink pencil erasers. So the decision was made place him on hospice.

Currently he is at home in Texas on hospice. Hospice comes Monday through Friday  with a fabulous and wonderful aide named Xandra from The Netherlands. Our nurse Kitty comes every Monday.  Dad is sitting up, eating drinking and watching television.

Continued prayers, in his name and maricles are asked for and appreciated
