Hi!
This is Jerri's 3rd oldest daughter Patty Morman.

Late last summer mom ended up in and out several times in the hospital and then rehab, etc.

Eventually it was obvious she no longer was capable of living in assisted living but needed more intense medical care.  Her children researched many places and found a good facility  in a town near her son and his family in Northern Illinois where she moved in October.

Mid- November she entered into Hospice.  Her poor lung function due to  COPD  requires strong meds plus 24 hour oxygen.   Her heart is also weak with congestive heart failure.  She also has suffered extreme pain for some months due to stress fractures in weakening bones.  This has required strong pain meds which thankfully has relieved her otherwise unbearable physical pain.  A side effect of the pain meds seems to be sleepiness.  She requests to sleep in bed a large part of the day.

 But when she is wheeled to breakfast she eats well and seems to enjoy it.  She eats lightly and lunch and very lightly in the evening.

Chaplain Dean there has been a big blessing to her - including his appreciation of the Gideons in which she has been active for decades.  He recently gave her a box of 24 Health Care Worker New Testaments to distribute!

Her  highlight of many days is getting to give those out to folks around her.    She reads the introductory pages about knowing God personally plus the " practical help" topics Bible Verses  guide pages to the recipients - nurses, maintenance workers, kitchen workers, visiting doctors etc!

I can also give you phone  numbers  to call her.  Keep trying  and if you happen to call when she has a visitor who can pick up and give her the phone you could talk to her which she loves.  It is hard for her to reach the phone from her bed and the nurses are very busy and not always in her room when it rings.  

Please pray for her to reach many people for Christ in her Bible distribution ministry there!  Plus please pray for her well-being physically and emotionally.  Thanks so much!
