Welcome to our families Caring Bridge
On May 12, during a routine check up, a mass was found in my left breast.  After a series of tests with Dr. Randy Cooper and his team at University Hospital, the mass was found to be a 7 cm tumor. I was diagnosed with stage 3  Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.  My family and I were shocked and this news seemed unreal and scary. We were in a fog for days, as expected under such circumstances. After we had a sit down with Dr. Cooper and the amazing team at the University Breast Health Center, our fears depleted knowing we were in excellent hands. Dr. Cooper informed us that the cancer was not aggressive. In fact, he said that the tumor had most likely  been growing in my system for anywhere from 5-10  years. The good news is that my tests have shown that I have "excellent biology".  I am scheduled for a double mastectomy on June 25th, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Given my family and social support I am confident that this will be something that we can overcome! WE GOT THIS!
Nick, the boys and I  know that there are friends and family with concerns on my progress,  how they can help or send well wishes and prayers .  We do appreciate that very much.  Please understand that this is a very overwhelming time for us as we still run a business while also preparing for the healing journey ahead. We are asking  that you use our Caring Bridge for all communication to stay updated on my surgery and our progression through treatment. Please do not use  social media or text messaging. or calls. We will post updates and check this site often. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you very much.
