In early December I went in for a routine mammogram. I got a call telling me to come back for more tests. Unfortunately those tests revealed that I had breast cancer. Surgery was scheduled for January 17th. At that time they thought the tumor was less than a centimeter. After surgery I was informed that the tumor was actually 4.5 centimeters, that I had numerous other tumors as well, and that the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes. I have been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. In the next week or so (late January/early Feb.) I will begin chemotherapy.
At first I was terrified at the thought of losing my hair. Now all I care about is beating this so that I can continue to watch my four kids grow up and someday love on my grandkids. I am going to fight this with every fiber in my being and I am committed to beating it.
I have been blessed with so many wonderful people in my life, who in this short amount of time have given me and my family so much love and support. I can't begin to tell you how much that has meant to me. Thank you all.
