Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  About two weeks ago, I found a lump, which turned out to be cancerous.  Numerous doctor visits later, it is now the night before the surgery, and I am preparing myself for that.  Tomorrow's operation is called a double mastectomy followed by reconstructive surgery - in short, one surgeon will remove a bunch of tissue from both breasts, and then a plastic surgeon will begin the process of building new breasts.  I expect to be in the hospital for 1-2 days following surgery, and then to return home for 2-3 weeks of recovery at home.  The current plan calls for chemotherapy after I'm healed from the surgery, but I will know for sure after the doctors have had a chance to analyze the tissue more closely.  Tomorrow's surgery also includes the removal of a couple of lymph nodes, to determine if the cancer has spread to any other parts of my body.  I hope it has not!  My husband Ted will be helping me keep you informed, as I'm sure you will be wondering how things are going.  We hope this website helps with that, and we plan to update as quickly and as often as possible so you will know what's going on.  If you are reading this, then know that we thank you for your support, your prayers, your love, and caring, and all of that helps me - thank you!  Love, Jenn and Ted
